thank you for coming (with sole doctor)

  • The Whitsell Auditorium at the Portland Art Museum 1219 Southwest Park Avenue Portland, OR, 97205 United States (map)

Documentary filmmaker Sara Lamm learned as an adult that she was conceived via sperm donor, a fact that led her down an eleven-years path to (maybe) find her biological father. Charting her path as she takes twelve DNA tests, searches five ancestry databases, identifies one potential half sister, and locates 900 sixth-cousins, THANK YOU FOR COMING is both a genealogical detective story and a funny, bittersweet meditation on love, loss and family.

presented with sole doctor

THANK YOU FOR COMING will be presented with SOLE DOCTOR, a short documentary (11 minutes) set at George's Shoe Repair, a family-owned business in Portland, Oregon that has served the community for over 50 years. SOLE DOCTOR introduces us to George as he is preparing to pass the store on to his son, Joshua, a former modern dancer.  Mia, Joshua's young daughter, also learns the family trade.

We are delighted that Sara Lamm (dir, THANK YOU FOR COMING) and Paula Bernstein (dir, SOLE DOCTOR) will both join us for the film’s post-film Q&A and reception.

To attend this screening, please purchase an advance ticket to reserve your spot. All tickets guarantee entry to screenings until 7 pm, when screenings begin. Late entry will be at the discretion of the venue.

General admission is $10 and includes a pre-screening reception and general seating in the beautiful Whitsell Auditorium. We are also excited to offer a limited number of patron tickets, which include prime reserved seating and an invitation to meet filmmakers and special guests and enjoy a complimentary drink and hors d’oeuvres at the post-film reception. Patron tickets are $40.
